The Houston Texans have agreed to an extension with offensive tackle Trent Brown worth up to $7 million, according to his agent Drew Rosenhaus.

Brown proved to be a valuable piece for the Texans' offensive line last season after returning from the injury that sidelined him that he sustained the year prior. When he was healthy and in the lineup at right tackle, Houston’s offensive line played some of its best football of the season. His size, experience, and steadiness on the edge helped stabilize a unit that dealt with multiple moving parts throughout the year.

Beyond his on-field performance, Brown has also brought familiarity with the offensive system being implemented by offensive coordinator Nick Caley and offensive line coach Cole Popovich. Brown previously played in New England, where both coaches developed their foundation within the Patriots’ offensive structure. That shared background has made him an asset not just as a player, but as someone who can help other linemen understand the scheme and expectations within the system.

From a roster-building perspective, the deal represents strong value for Houston. A contract worth up to $7 million gives the Texans flexibility while retaining a veteran tackle who has already proven he can perform in the offense.

Brown projects as the likely starter at right tackle, providing continuity for the offensive line as the unit continues to evolve. In a less likely scenario, he would still serve as a high-end swing tackle, capable of providing depth and experience at multiple spots along the line.

Either way, the Texans secure a proven veteran presence on a team-friendly deal while continuing to build stability up front.
