Tommy Togiai Gives Back to Houston, Launches Signature Burger and Honors First Responders

With Houston Texans training camp just around the corner, defensive tackle Tommy Togiai took time to give back to the city he now calls home.

Partnering with OMG! Burger, Togiai launched the limited-time Tommy T Smash Burger while hosting a community meet-and-greet at the restaurant's Galleria location.

Throughout the afternoon, Togiai worked the grill, signed autographs, posed for photos with fans and gave out 72 burgers—matching his No. 72 jersey—to Houston first responders as a thank-you for the work they do serving the community.

The Tommy T Smash Burger features two smashed beef patties, pepper jack cheese, caramelized onions, pickles and the restaurant's signature Tommy T Sauce on a toasted potato bun, but the real story of the day was Togiai's continued investment in the Houston community.

Continuing a Busy Offseason of Community Work

This wasn't Togiai's first appearance in the community this offseason.

Earlier this summer, he participated in another event recognizing and supporting Houston first responders, continuing a theme of giving back away from the football field.

He was also on hand supporting teammate Ed Ingram during Ingram's community event and fireside chat at Ed's Church, another example of Texans players showing up for one another while making an impact throughout Houston.

As training camp approaches, Togiai has quietly become one of several Texans consistently visible at community events across the city.

Clearing Up the Pronunciation

During our one-on-one conversation, Togiai also cleared up something many Texans fans have wondered for years.

His last name is pronounced "Toe-Gee-Eye," not the commonly heard "Tung-ee-eye."

It's a simple correction, but one he laughed about while appreciating fans who make the effort to get it right.

Looking Forward to the 2026 Season

With training camp beginning, Togiai shared his excitement about the season ahead and the opportunity in front of this Texans team.

After helping anchor one of the NFL's top defensive units, he's eager to build on last season alongside a talented defensive front that continues to add depth and competition.

Touchdowns? He's Ready.

Like many defensive linemen, Togiai isn't opposed to getting involved on the other side of the ball.

We joked about the possibility of scoring touchdowns and lining up on offense in short-yardage situations again this year, something he'd clearly welcome if the opportunity ever presented itself.

Reunited with Wyatt Teller

Another topic that came up was the arrival of veteran offensive lineman Wyatt Teller.

The two were previously teammates in Cleveland before reuniting this offseason in Houston, and Togiai spoke about what it means to have a familiar face back in the locker room. That shared history has helped make Teller's transition to Houston even smoother while strengthening an already close-knit team culture.

More Than Football

The afternoon served as another reminder that the Texans' culture extends well beyond Sundays.

Whether it was handing out all 72 burgers to first responders, taking time with every fan who stopped by, or simply spending hours behind the grill, Togiai's focus was on giving back.

As the team turns its attention to training camp, Houston fans have already gotten another glimpse of the type of people representing the organization—players who are just as committed to serving the community as they are to competing on the field.
