Jaylin Noel Has Turf Toe, DeMeco Ryans Says; Texans WR in Walking Boot

Update: DeMeco Ryans identified Jaylin Noel’s injury as turf toe after Sunday’s game, according to Aaron Wilson’s postgame report. Wilson reports that Noel was injured on a kickoff return, is wearing a walking boot and will continue to be evaluated. No recovery timetable is established in that update.

The Texans have a new injury to monitor heading into their bye week. Wide receiver Jaylin Noel left Sunday’s game against the Giants with a toe injury and was seen wearing a walking boot afterward, according to ESPN’s DJ Bien-Aime.

Bien-Aime also noted that the boot could simply be used to stabilize Noel’s foot. That distinction matters: the presence of a boot does not, by itself, establish how serious the injury is or how long Noel might be unavailable.

What is confirmed so far

The Giants’ official postgame injury summary lists Noel with a toe injury. The report of the boot adds a postgame observation, but neither that observation nor the injury listing provides a return date.

Noel’s availability for Houston’s next game remains something to follow. This update does not establish a multiweek absence, and the Texans’ next medical or practice update will be more useful than guessing from the boot alone.

What it means for Houston’s receiving group

Houston has just welcomed Tank Dell back and added Marvin Harrison Jr. to a receiving group led by Nico Collins. If Noel needs time out, the Texans will have to redistribute his work among their available receivers. Dell’s return gives them another option, but it does not automatically replace every responsibility Noel handles.

The Week 8 bye gives Houston time before its next game, November 8 at the Chargers. Whether that time is enough for Noel is still unknown. The key now is getting a clearer update on the injury and his ability to return to practice.

Updated October 25, 2026. The walking-boot observation is attributed to DJ Bien-Aime; no recovery timetable is asserted here.
