The Houston Texans have signed former Los Angeles Chargers tight end Tre’ McKitty, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2.
McKitty, 6-foot-4 and 246 pounds, was a third-round pick by the Chargers in the 2021 NFL Draft. He played in 28 games across the 2021 and 2022 seasons before struggling to stick on a 53-man roster, being released by the Buffalo Bills in 2023 and spending the 2024 season on the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad.
The former Georgia Bulldog now joins fellow ex-Bulldogs Kamari Lassiter and Nick Chubb in Houston. While McKitty adds depth to the tight end room, this move may not be a direct replacement for injured tight end Brevin Jordan, as the Texans also signed offensive tackle Connor McDermott earlier this week.
In a corresponding move, per Sam Warren, the team placed fullback/tight end Dalton Keene on injured reserve.
