The Houston Texans continue to gain league-wide recognition not only for the roster they’ve built, but also for the people behind the scenes helping shape the organization.

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Texans offensive coordinator Nick Caley along with assistant general managers James Liipfert and Chris Blanco are participating in the NFL’s accelerator program during this week’s owners meetings in Orlando.

The NFL’s accelerator program was created to help develop and connect future head coaching and general manager candidates with owners and league decision-makers.

Houston having three representatives involved speaks to how respected the Texans’ infrastructure has become under Nick Caserio and DeMeco Ryans.

Caley entering the program is notable as he enters his second season as the Texans’ offensive coordinator and play-caller. After taking over an offense that struggled with consistency and protection issues throughout 2025, the Texans still showed growth late in the season while adapting to a new offensive system.

The organization has consistently expressed confidence in Caley internally, and quarterback C.J. Stroud publicly supported him following the season as well. Houston’s belief in continuity offensively was evident throughout the offseason as the Texans doubled down on improving the supporting cast around Stroud rather than resetting the scheme again.

The Texans invested heavily into helping Caley succeed entering Year 2, including major offensive line changes, adding David Montgomery to the backfield, improving the tight end room depth, and continuing to build around the Erhardt-Perkins style offense Houston began implementing last season.

Meanwhile, Liipfert and Blanco being selected for the accelerator program further reinforces how highly regarded Houston’s front office has become around the NFL.

Liipfert has long been viewed as one of the Texans’ top evaluators and has steadily climbed the ladder since arriving from New England with Caserio. He already interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons general manager opening earlier this offseason, another sign league circles view him as a future GM candidate.

Much of Houston’s roster construction success over the last several years has coincided with Liipfert’s rise inside the organization. The Texans have built one of the league’s deeper young cores through the draft while consistently finding value in trades, free agency, and developmental players.

Blanco has also become an increasingly important figure in Houston’s personnel department. Since joining the Texans, he has helped oversee both pro and college scouting operations and has earned a reputation as another fast-rising executive across the league.

Houston promoting both Liipfert and Blanco to assistant general manager roles last offseason already signaled how much trust the organization has in them long term.

For Texans fans, the accelerator selections are another reflection of where the franchise currently stands organizationally. Around the league, Houston is no longer viewed as simply an up-and-coming young team because of C.J. Stroud or DeMeco Ryans alone.

The Texans are increasingly becoming viewed as a stable, respected organization with rising coaching and front office talent throughout the building.

As success continues, that also means other teams will eventually come calling for some of the people helping build it.
